1. What is the change that you are trying to bring about and why is this important.

Content Diversity and Reducing Gender Gap : The main event is to celebrate international women’s day as we are doing it for the last two years. We will create and modify articles on women as an initiative of global diversity on wikipedia. We will do it for a whole week from 19th of march up to 26th of march but meanwhile we will conduct an onground event too in which we will do this work by meeting in person.

Growth of Community Health : The second most important aspect of this event is being together for a community meetup. Due to Covid, in the timeline of March 2020 to February 2022, Punjabi Wikimedians did not meet in-person just like other communities, however, in March 2022 we started to meet and Women Week 2022 was the first event where we met each other after two years. So, The Punjabi community are continuing this impactful series and the focus of the event will be on community health, decision-making, future activities, and finding ways to promote leadership and the growth of community. Furthermore, Women Week is punjabi community's own idea and we are celebrating it from last two iterations. It would be the third time when we are planning it. Links for previous events : https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Punjabi_Wikimedians/Events/Women%27s_Week_2022 and https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Women%27s_Week_2021.

Content Enrichment : In April 2023, We are thinking of celebrating Punjabi Wikipedia Birthday Anniversary in a different way. Currently, we have around 38K articles and we are aiming to increase more articles till April like 50K articles by conducting such edit-a-thons and competitions within the community only. So, this event is the kind of initiative which we are planning to achieve.

2. Describe your main approaches or strategies to achieve these changes and why you think they will be effective.

We have two approaches here basically. First one is we are doing an online campaign in which we are organizing an online edit-a-thon for a whole week. In this segment, we are listing articles of prominent women, women issues, feminism etc.

Secondly, we are doing an onground event to celebrate international women's day. In this two day event, we will do training sessions about wikipedia, wikisource and discussion sessions which will be more useful for community growth. We think these types of initiatives encourage more to contribute on wikimedia as a perspective of gender diversity.

3. What are the activities you will be developing and delivering as part of these approaches or strategies?

1. 19 March-26 March 2023 : Women Week Edit-a-thon (online mode)

2. 25-26 March 2023 : On Ground Event Women Week Edit-a-thon and In Person Community Meeting
4. Are your activities part of a Wikimedia movement campaign or event? If so, please select the relevant campaign below. If so, please select all the relevant campaigns from the list below. If "other", please state which.

Not applicable

5. Do you have the team that is needed to implement this proposal?

Harpreet Dugal: She is an active Wikimedian of Punjabi Wikimedians User Group. She mainly edits Punjabi Wikisource and Punjabi Wikipedia. She also contributed a few projects online or on-ground in her volunteer capacity. She also has started her 100Wikidays challenge on Punjabi Wikipedia.

Gaurav Jhammat: He is an active Punjabi Wikimedian. He is one of the main organizers for this Women Week event from last two years. He mainly contributes to meta wikimedia and Wikimedia commons. Currently he is doing a wikisource project regarding scanning manuscripts.

Nitesh Gill : She belongs to Punjabi Wikimedia User Group who is one of the contact person of the group. She is also an active Wikimedian who is fully involved in online and offline activities. She has been contributing in content enrichment from 2017 via #1000wikidays articles campaign. She is also a part of a few projects such as Punjabi Audiobook Project (CO-lead), Punjabi Manuscripts Digitisation project (Advisor) etc. She is the one who came forward with the idea of Women Week and she started organising the activity for Women Week. She will list articles for edit-a-thon, organizing online campaigns and its documentation, organizing on ground event and its report writing.

6. Please state if your proposal aims to work to bridge any of the identified CONTENT knowledge gaps (Knowledge Inequity)? Select up to THREE that most apply to your work.

Content Gender gap, Language, Cultural background, ethnicity, religion, racial

6.1 In a few sentences, explain how your work is specifically addressing this content gap (or Knowledge inequity) to ensure a greater representation of knowledge.

We are organizing an online contest about creating or modifying articles related to women. This initiative directly leads to Gender Diversity. Second important aspect of this, according to participation of women in wikipedia and other wiki projects is only 9-13%. (https://lists.wikimedia.org/postorius/lists/gendergap.lists.wikimedia.org/) But in Punjabi Community, this ratio is bit high. Even in the wikisource, Punjabi Community Growth is mostly dependent on women editors.

7. Please state if your proposal includes any of these areas or THEMATIC focus. Select up to THREE that most apply to your work and explain the rationale for identifying these themes.

Diversity

8. Will your work focus on involving participants from any underrepresented communities?

Gender Identity, Sexual Orientation, Ethnic/racial/religious or cultural background

9. Who are the target participants and from which community? How will you engage participants before and during the activities? How will you follow up with participants after the activities?

We are focusing on Punjabi Wikimedians who will participate in this event. First They will participate in online contest and create or modify articles related to women or gender gaps. Community members will directly engage in this event in-person while we will do an on ground event to celebrate international women day.

10. In what ways are you actively seeking to contribute towards creating a safer, supportive, more equitable environment for participants?

We will follow the UCoC and Friendly Space Policy of the Wikimedia to contributors to provide them a safer and supportive environment, so, they keep faith in each other and continue their work with Wikimedia.

11. Please tell us about how you have let your Wikimedia communities know about the planned activities and this proposal. Use this space to describe the processes you carried out to make the community more involved in planning this proposal. Please link the on-wiki community discussion(s) around the proposals.

Learning, Sharing, and Evaluation

[edit]
15. What do you hope to learn from your work in this fund proposal?

We are organizing an online contest about creating or modifying articles related to women. This initiative directly leads to Gender Diversity. Punjabi Community Growth specially in case of wikisource, is mostly dependent on women editors. So, we need such type of event in which we can bring all these women editors to the same event and let them share their ideas and experiences with community. By this event, we hope that we would get more female leaders who would be capable to take initiatives and decisions and plan new activities in future.

editors, participants and edit count will be measured quantitatively. So it wouldn't be issue in theirs case but as we said we are thinking our female wikipedians to come ahead and take initiatives for community. one of the organizer and primary grantee is the first time organizing any event so it will boost and encourage other female wikimedians too and we hope for that.
