6. What is the change you are trying to bring? What are the main challenges or problems you are trying to solve? Describe this change or challenges, as well as main approaches to achieve it. (required)

The change we aim to bring involves multifaceted initiatives, primarily centered around providing training, fostering partnerships, and narrating organizers' stories in a distinctive manner that hasn't been explored before. Additionally, we aspire to delve into the future of Wikipedia by actively engaging with various communities to understand how Wikipedia and its sister projects can play a vital role in upcoming developments.

Challenges that we seek to address include the need for innovative training methods, establishing meaningful partnerships, and showcasing organizers' stories in a novel and compelling way. Furthermore, navigating the evolving landscape of technology and the internet, particularly within communities like Web 3, which encompass open metaverses and blockchains, poses a unique set of challenges that we aim to overcome.

1. Comprehensive Training Programs: Implementing robust and innovative training programs that go beyond conventional methods, ensuring participants acquire valuable skills essential for effective engagement within the Wikimedia movement.

2. Strategic Partnerships: Actively seeking and cultivating partnerships with organizations and communities that share common goals, thereby amplifying our impact and fostering collaborative efforts.

3. Unique Storytelling: Employing creative and unique storytelling techniques to convey organizers' stories in a compelling manner, ensuring a fresh and engaging perspective that resonates with the audience.

4. Engagement with Future Technologies: Proactively connecting with communities in the realm of Web 3, including open metaverses and blockchains, to explore opportunities and potential contributions of Wikipedia and its sister projects in shaping the future of information dissemination.

By adopting these approaches, we aim to not only address the challenges at hand but also contribute meaningfully to the evolution of the Wikimedia movement and its relevance in emerging technological landscapes.

7. What are the planned activities? (required) Please provide a list of main activities. You can also add a link to the public page for your project where details about your project can be found. Alternatively, you can upload a timeline document. When the activities include partnerships, include details about your partners and planned partnerships.

1. Training: While Wiki Update provides voice training on various tools through its podcast platform, some organizers express a preference for in-person training sessions for their communities. Recognizing this need, we plan to organize in-person training sessions to cater to the diverse preferences of our partners and further support organizers within the movement.

2. Advocacy: Wiki Update aims to amplify its advocacy efforts, particularly focusing on MCDC and the African Agenda. By increasing engagement in these areas, we seek to spearhead initiatives that positively impact various communities within and beyond the movement. This approach aligns with our commitment to community growth and health.

3. YouTube Engagement: Building on the success of our audio content, Wiki Update plans to expand its reach by launching a YouTube channel. This channel will not only allow live viewing of podcast sessions but also ensure content availability on the Spotify podcast timeline. This strategic move aims to enhance the overall viewer experience and accessibility.

4. Election Project Initiative: As we anticipate the 2024 Ghanaian elections, Wiki Update is gearing up to launch a specialized election project. This collaborative endeavor, in partnership with usergroups and communities like Open Foundation West Africa (OFWA) and potential collaborators who are not in the open space but understand activities related to elections, aims to systematically gather data and information. The primary focus is to address content gaps surrounding the Ghanaian elections on Wikipedia. Moreover, we aspire to broaden our scope by including coverage of the prominent US elections if possible, which are also slated for 2024. The overarching objective is to ensure a thorough and current representation on Wikipedia for both electoral events. This commitment contributes significantly to the accessibility and accuracy of information related to these pivotal occurrences. To gain insights into our prior experience with Open Foundation West Africa, please refer to our meta-page, The Ghana Polls 2020 [1]. Looking ahead, we are eager to engage with additional communities for collaborative partnerships in the context of both the Ghanaian and US elections.

5. WikiEducate - Is a key initiative for the year, aims to engage and train Junior High and Senior High students in the fundamentals of Wikipedia. The program focuses on empowering students with essential skills, enhancing digital literacy, and encouraging collaboration. Tailored modules cover the basics of Wikipedia, its structure, and hands-on editing techniques. Interactive workshops, practical exercises, and guest speakers will facilitate learning. The expected outcomes include increased Wikipedia contributions, improved digital literacy, and a sense of community building. The initiative reflects a commitment to fostering meaningful online contributions and lays the foundation for potential future educational endeavors.

6. Lets Digitize it: This year, one of our primary activities is the digitization of works generously donated to the public domain, particularly focusing on the valuable contributions of librarians and essential knowledge not yet available on widely accessible platforms like Wikispace. Our initiative aligns with the future vision of the wiki ecosystem, looking ahead to Web 3 and its transformative technologies such as AI, Blockchain, and the Metaverse. By digitizing materials relevant to the open movement surrounding these emerging technologies, we aim to contribute to the growing repository of knowledge and ensure its accessibility to a wider audience.

To maximize engagement, we will utilize various channels before and during the activities. Prior to the event, information will be disseminated through social media, mailing lists, and online communities to build anticipation and encourage pre-activity discussions. During the activities, interactive webinars, collaborative forums, and live Q&A sessions will facilitate active participation. We'll employ social media hashtags and discussion forums for real-time interaction. Post-activity, we commit to sustaining engagement through follow-up communications, including email newsletters and personalized surveys, aiming to gather feedback and insights.
