Wiki Loves Afrodemics 2025 is an annual initiative of the The Wiki Afrodemics project. The project aims to close the huge content gaps in Africa by increasing African scholars' visibility. This will be done by creating and improving articles, adding citations, categories and data, about the historical and contemporary African academics and scientists so that they can be available and easily accessible in different languages across Wikimedia Foundation Projects. The first edition in 2023 saw the creation and improvements of different quality articles about African academics and scientists which can be found here.
After the project, we ensured that most of the participants continued to work on improving articles related to African academics and scientists. This was done by highlighting different articles that needed to be improved and notable articles that needed to be created on the project's metapage. With this, we were able to retain over 60 per cent of the participants who have been improving and creating African scientists and academics related articles into C grade and B grade including the Aderemi Kuku, Oladipo Ogunlesi, National Public Health Laboratory (Sudan), Charles Wambebe and Sunday Iyahen, that were improved to the good articles states long after the end of the project. This is evidence of the sustainability of the project and a huge step toward the long-term goal of the initiative i.e to become a thematic organisation.
Therefore, this second edition would continue the documentation of the biographies of notable academics and scientists both on Wikipedia and Wikidata across different African countries. Approaches
Training and recruiting of editors: The project would train and recruit editors that would contribute to creating and improving articles on English Wikipedia. Leveraging on the existing Wiki Afrodemics community 35 existing volunteers will be recruited into the project and 15 new volunteers would be added too. Closing Knowledge Gaps: The training would close the knowledge gaps by making sure that notable African academics and scientists are documented on English Wikipedia.
Improving existing articles: The campaign would also increase the stub articles of African academics and scientists to C, B and Good Articles. The project team are people who have improved several articles into Good articles. Therefore, they will leverage their experience to teach the volunteers on how to navigate the existing articles.
Creating articles: The project's team are volunteers who are well-grounded in article creation. Almost all the trainers have created hundreds of articles. Therefore, they will utilize their experience in article creation to teach both the new and existing editors the different ways and methods of creating articles on Wikipedia.
Feedback: Forms would be circulated after the campaign to generate suggestions and observations from the participants after the project. This would be used to improve the next edition of the project.

Planned activities
Two physical trainings for English-language Wikipedia and Wikidata editors: The participants would be provided with two physical capacity-building trainings on what is needed to improve and create new content relating to African academics and scientists. The training would focus on the identification of Academics and Scientists, writing from a WP:NPOV, and how to improve stub articles to C, B, and Good articles.
Two online trainings for English language Wikipedia and Wikidata editors: Two online trainings would also be provided during the campaign. This would be a good idea to revise what has been learnt and attend to problems faced by the participants and other questions that might arise during the campaign.
Edit-a-thon: For the participants participating in the English Wikipedia, there will be a two-month edit-a-thon where they will rigorously and positively create and improve contents in the English Wikipedia space. Priority would also be given to people who can take African academics and scientists articles into Good and featured articles as they would recognized and rewarded separately.
Review: The Reviewers would review the activities and contributions of the participants and gift card vouchers would be given to the top three participants
Certification: All the participants who participated in the campaigns training and edit-a-thon/Translate-a-thin would be certified. Special award and recognition for Good and Featured Articles: To be able to reduce the number of stubs and start articles related to African academics and scientists, there would be special gift card vouchers for participants who can take the articles to either good and featured articles during campaign. After, the campaign, there would be special digital awards and barnsters for members who continue the activity.
Special Gender Award: This is an award and voucher that would be given to a participant who contributed mostly to the creation and improvement of articles related to women academics and scientists.
New Comer Award: There would an award for a new comer that distinguishes himself/herself during the campaign

Ibjaja055 is an experienced Wikimedia projects editor. He was the 2023 Wikimedia User Group Nigeria Editor of the Year. He is a currently a new page reviewer and auto-pateoller on the English Wikipedia. He has over 20,000 edits across Wikimedia foundation projects and has created hundreds of articles around African Academics and scientists including good articles. 2. FuzzyMagma is an experienced Wikimedia editor who has been contributing to Wikimedia and it's sisters projects for years. He has created hundreds of articles around African academics and scientists. contributed immensely to the improvement and creation of African scientists and academics articles. He has over 37,000 edits across Wikimedia foundation projects and have improved 10 articles to good articles, 56 B articles and 75 C articles as it can be seen here

He participated in the first edition of Wiki Loves Afrodemics and his exceptional content creating skills has made us involve him in this second edition. He has over 63, 000 edits across Wikimedia foundation projects with half coming from the English Wikipedia. He has contributed to several good articles and Featured lists. Therefore, we believe that his invaluable experience will help the participants around contents and prose writing on Wikipedia. here

User:Idoghor Melody has clear track records on English Wikipedia. With over 35k edits on English Wikipedia. He has created over 80 articles on English Wikipedia and he was the project lead of African Legislators in Red Project.
Ojewuyib is a fellow of African Wiki Women and an experienced Wikimedia. She will be assisting wikidata trainer and at the same time be the communication officer of the project.

The target participants are from Nigeria. 50 participants will be selected for the English Wikipedia and they will consist of active members of the Afrodemics community and new participants who are willing to contribute to English Wikipedia. Google forms under the control of the community coordinator would be sent to the community groups for the recruitment process. After the training, new members who are on the Afrodemics community group would be added for further mentoring.
