- 1. What is the change that you are trying to bring about and why is this important.
This project is a local campaign to support the global event with a similar one in South Sudan
Young Wikimedians are part of about 1.8 billion young people taking action to solve pressing issues in different corners of the world today. They are found in almost every wikimedia community in the movement. Their presence is felt in the communities they lead, and belong to, and the actions they take in building free knowledge on Wikimedia projects.
Therefore, as young people's voices are celebrated all over the world on 12th August, 2022, it is important that we are moved to celebrate young wikimedians and the communities/individuals who are shaping these group of people, for their work in local wikimedia communities and the movement at large.
Beyond this, it creates an opportunity to leverage our number and capacity as a strength for collective action in bridging the knowledge gap on this year's IYD theme Intergenerational Solidarity: "Creating a World for All Ages" on wikimedia projects.
In addition, we hope to increase youth participation, diversity and capacity in the wikimedia movement noting how important it is for movement sustainability.
- 2. Describe your main approaches or strategies to achieve these changes and why you think they will be effective.
1. Develop activities to celebrate young wikimedians, their work and the communities shaping them in South Sudan
- 2. Develop activities to bridge the knowledge gap on the theme "Intergenerational Solidarity: Creating a World for All Ages" in relation to the South Sudan context.

- We will launch a simple community survey to identify two (2) young Wikimedians (preferably male and female where available) with the highest number of edits, or led/co-led Edit-a-thons/trainings/campaigns or other forms of leadership recognized by the community. We will also identify one Wikimedian who is not a young person but helping to shape the journey of young people or their communities in South Sudan
- We will organize a celebratory community event for the identified people to recognize and award them with prizes. We will also share with the WikiVibrance global coordination team to spotlight them through their social media and media partner where possible.
- 2. Develop activities to bridge the knowledge gap on the theme "Intergenerational Solidarity: Creating a World for All Ages" in relation to the South Sudan context:
- We would organize a contest, preferably an Edit-a-thon or writing contest in South Sudan with a focus on Wikipedia, wikidata or wikimedia commons with a focus on topics relating to the theme "Intergenerational Solidarity: Creating a World for All Ages" in the South Sudan context.
- 3. Engage in activity(s) that highlights youth diversity and participation in the movement:
