- 1. What is the change that you are trying to bring about and why is this important.
- To unite Wikimedians working on the language Wikipedias in Ghana: Most Ghanaians who contribute to the local languages have similar challenges and bringing them together will give them a sense of belonging and boost their confidence in digitizing their languages to prevent it from going into extinction and also closing up the digital divide that keeps people disconnected from the internet because of language barriers.
- To learn from the various communities in Ghana: Every community has its strengths and weaknesses and bringing all the language Wikimedia communities together will provide fertile ground for brainstorming on how to better stand out the language platforms and also learn from the others what has worked and what did not work. And also, every community has a special skill and experience so bringing these communities together would help us learn from one another skills such as community development, volunteer retention, leadership development, and others.
- To recruit new volunteers: meetups provide avenues for creating awareness about the existence of Wikimedia volunteers which attract the attention of the general public hence leading to the recruitment of more volunteers.
- 2. Describe your main approaches or strategies to achieve these changes and why you think they will be effective.
- Increase the Sustainability of Our Movement
- Improve User Experience
- Ensure Equity in Decision-making
- Coordinate Across Stakeholders
- Invest in Skills and Leadership Development
- Identify topics for Impact
- Innovate in Free Knowledge
- 3. What are the activities you will be developing and delivering as part of these approaches or strategies?
- We will be involving different communities and focus on connecting all the languages, bringing all the Wikimedia language communities together to learn from each other, share our challenges and success stories, and create partnership opportunities for future collaborations.
- Additionally, this event will create an avenue for the communities to learn from each other. Volunteers will have the opportunity to network and celebrate our achievements over the years.
- The event will be organized in person in Tamale for two days (Friday and Saturday). Some important sessions will be streamed live to YouTube channels for online participants. We have chosen Tamale because more than half of the language communities in Ghana are based in and around Tamale, which means we will be able to bring more people to the event without the need to pay more for transport and accommodation considering the scope of the budget.
- 4. Are your activities part of a Wikimedia movement campaign or event? If so, please select the relevant campaign below. If so, please select all the relevant campaigns from the list below. If "other", please state which.

- 6.1 In a few sentences, explain how your work is specifically addressing this content gap (or Knowledge inequity) to ensure a greater representation of knowledge.
Our focus is primarily on language communities who come from different religions, and ethnicities, spread across Ghana that are underrepresented in cyberspace and are typically people on the periphery of social class and status, but with this meetup, everyone is treated equally and can freely share their opinions on important topics that matter to us in the movement. It would also allow women share their experiences with fellow women in order to attract more women to the movement.

Education, Culture, heritage or GLAM , Advocacy, Diversity

- 9. Who are the target participants and from which community? How will you engage participants before and during the activities? How will you follow up with participants after the activities?
The target participants are Ghanaian language Wikimedians and other potential contributors (new volunteers). We would send a survey through Google Forms to the various language communities in Ghana. We would ask for their personal information (name, telephone number, Wikimedia username). We would set up a WhatsApp platform and add them to the group for future engagements. After the event, we would send a survey to ask for their feedback for the event and subsequent events. We will also be engaging the general public via all our social media handles, especially the participating language communities.
- 10. In what ways are you actively seeking to contribute towards creating a safer, supportive, more equitable environment for participants?
We would ensure all participants adhere to the WMF Friendly Space Policy by reminding them before, during and after the meetup
