Part 1: Project and impact
[edit]1. Describe the implemented activities and results achieved. Additionally, share which approaches were most effective in supporting you to achieve the results. (required)
The outcomes of this project are as follows:
1. Conducted 6 Writing Workshops (Original Target: 6): Through in-person writing workshops, participants were brought together in the same location to collaboratively write Sakizaya Wikimedia entries in real time. When encountering challenges in editing Wikimedia, participants could ask questions and get immediate assistance, significantly improving the efficiency of the writing process.
2. 53 Participants (Original Target: 30): A total of 53 individuals participated across the 6 workshops, exceeding the original target by 23 participants. This demonstrates that the project successfully attracted more Sakizaya community members to join and contribute to the preservation of their culture.
3. Added 70 Wikimedia Entries (Original Target: 70): Building on the experience from the first project, participants were more familiar with Wikimedia's software tools. Coupled with the support provided through the workshops, this project successfully created 70 new entries, enriching the preservation of Sakizaya cultural content.
4.Recorded 7 Tribal Language Videos (Original Target: 5): To document the culture and language of the Sakizaya people through audiovisual media, the project produced 7 Sakizaya tribal language videos. These videos add to the cultural records of the Sakizaya community, further contributing to the preservation of their heritage.
5. Engaged 11 Editors (Original Target: 8): A total of 11 editors participated in this project, collaboratively editing 70 Sakizaya-related Wikimedia entries, surpassing the original target for editor involvement.
6. Recorded 30 Sakizaya Audio Vocabulary Files (Original Target: 30): To preserve the audio recordings of Sakizaya vocabulary, we recorded 30 audio files during the project. These files serve as a valuable resource for maintaining the pronunciation and oral legacy of Sakizaya words.

Part 2: Learning
[edit]4. In your application, you outlined some learning questions. What did you learn from these learning questions when you implemented your project? How do you hope to use this learnings in the future? You can recall these learning questions below. (required)
You can recall these learning questions below: 依據去年的經驗,我們將繼續原住民部落中,與耆老進行互動及田野調查蒐集,並透過錄音錄影的方式記錄下有關撒奇萊雅族的語言,透過線下串連線上的方式,將文化及語言記錄並傳承下來,以創造更安全及公平的環境。
During the project, the biggest lesson learned from recording interview videos with elders was that video production involves much more than just recording. The process requires professional videographers, recording equipment, suitable venues, translators, video editors, and file conversion tools to successfully produce a complete video. Therefore, during the preparation phase for video recording, it is essential to ensure that these personnel and equipment are in place. Only then can videos with Sakizaya subtitles and translations be successfully produced.
5. Did anything unexpected or surprising happen when implementing your activities? This can include both positive and negative situations. What did you learn from those experiences? (required)
This writing workshop welcomed new participants, including those who brought their family members to join. This was both surprising and exciting for us, as we believe it is crucial to have more members of the Sakizaya community participating in cultural preservation activities. Although retraining participants on how to use Wikimedia can be complex, having more people involved in the organization's activities is, overall, a positive development.
6. What is your plan to share your project learnings and results with other community members? If you have already done it, describe how. (required)
We have documented our achievements on the aforementioned meta page, hoping that members of other communities can be inspired and motivated by our records.
