Through its projects and programs, WikiActivate Community strives, with the support of the Wikimedia Foundation, to raise awareness about significant topics and foster discussions that will disseminate open knowledge within local communities. This includes objectives such as enhancing and expanding the content of Wikimedia projects, promoting these projects at a local level, and creating awareness about Sustainable Development Goals. We plan to achieve these programs through these strategic approaches which includes:

1. Contents Drive – We aim to organize and participate in content drives such as edit-a-thons, translation-a-thons, contests such as Wiki Loves Africa, Wiki Loves Earth, Wiki Loves Monuments, WikiGap, Wiki Campaign for Human Right, 1L1ref, WPWP, AfroCine, etc. We plan to collaborate with new and existing user groups in Nigeria.
2. WikiActivate for Climate Action: The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) also known as the Global Goals, are a universal call to actions to ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity through ending poverty and protect the planet. The Goals were built on the successes of the Millennium Development Goals while including new areas however the goals are interconnected. In Nigeria the SDGs Goals especially the goal 13 which is a Global concern isn't talked about a lot. Our proposal aims at helping global campaign in bridging the SDGs goal 13 gap that exists on English Wikipedia with a focus on Nigeria content. This will help in creating awareness on the issue of Climate Change in Nigeria. We plan organize a physical event with edit-a-thon to launch the event. We also want to organize a Photowalk and Online training to spread the awareness and reach more people who will not be able to meet up with the physical events. We will have another physical event to close the event where we will develop activities to engage editors during the global goal. The activities will include bridging the content gap on SDGs Goal 13 impacts in Nigeria through participants from our community, and we will recognize and award prizes to top contributors in the Edit-a-thon.
3. WikiActivate on Plagiarism: At the wake of Plagiarism issues going on around the world there is a strong need to create awareness, training and educate Wikipedia existing and new editors on the stand of Wikimedia on the issue of Plagiarism and how to navigate plagiarism while contributing, creating or editing Wikipedia articles and sister’s projects. We plan to organize a physical and online event with edit-a-thon to launch the event. Online training to spread the awareness and reach more people who will not be able to meet up with the physical events. We will have another physical event to close the event where we will develop activities to engage editors. The activities will create awareness on Plagiarism on the content Nigeria editors are creating and we will recognize and award prizes to top contributors in the Edit-a-thon.
4. Notable Women (Wiki-Gap): Less than ¼ of Wikipedia biographies represent women. Many biographies of notable women don’t exist or are incomplete. Wikipedia is in the top 20 most visited sites in the world, so gaps in Wikipedia have a big impact on the broader internet. In addressing these challenges, this project will seek to organize a programme that will focus on creating and improving content on notable women who their biographies are missing on Wikipedia
5. WikiActivate Digital Upskill : We want Organize meetups to engage tech professionals and introduce them to Wikidata. Providing comprehensive training on how utilize the Wikidata Query Service. Facili ating collaborative efforts to develop a user-friendly web app and conducting thorough quality assurance testing to ensure seamless functionality. We will also documenting and share the process within the Wikimedia communities. We will also be seeking feedback from users and stakeholders to refine our activities.
6. Documentation– Documentation of indigenous works unique to Africa and culture such as Adire, pottery, local Markets, blacksmith, local oil making, drum-making, hair-making, mat-making, broom-making, wine-tapping, Garri-making, fufu-making, basket-weaving, local fishing, etc. We will document at least 20 Pictures/visuals of these works and upload on wikicommons.
7. Wiki-Interact: This project aims to host series of meetups where community members both old and new gather and we Interact, exchange ideas and discuss how better to implement the recommendations of the movement strategy and develop the affiliation potential in the region. We will also discuss how to improve on the gains and shortfalls of our previous projects. We will end the program organizing a edith-a-thon and welcome new editors, improve/edit articles.
8. WikiActivate Alliance: In the past, many of our activities are central to Abuja and Online and this limit participation from members of our community from other states. As part of our strategy to decentralize activities, we want to create and provide technical and financial support for WikiActivate Club in 3-4 states for our members outsides of Abuja through the to enable them remotely to participate in our programs and organize activities for themselves. We are planning to establish most of these clubs in schools, where students will be actively involved in the work of WikiActivate Clubs as well as in the learning process. We will run Train the Trainers program to be able to establish these clubs with Wikimedia values.

Capacity Building

1. Training: We will be running a series of trainings throughout the year to help contributors develop their skills and gain the knowledge they need to work on different Wikimedia projects such as Wikipedia, Wikiquotes, Wikidata, and Wikimedia Commons. Existing volunteers and new ones would be trained on program evaluation, partnership, community-building, grant
2. Digital Upskilling - Participants will be taught basic MS Office, Project Management, and LinkedIn optimization for better networking (social media communication work. This will also equip fellows with skills for using workplace production and collaboration tools such as the MS Office Suite, other project tools, and social media networking such as optimization of their LinkedIn profile creating an opportunity for social media communication
