- 13. What are the main objectives of the event?
A significant objective is to tackle issues related to misinformation, disinformation, and missing information within the Wiki community, especially in the context of upcoming elections and ongoing issues in science, medicine, and vaccines.
Enhancing the reliability of existing content, particularly articles with poor or no sourcing, is seen as a critical objective. Ensuring the credibility of information, especially for articles about living people, is highlighted as essential.
The event aims to emphasize the importance of credibility, reliable sources, and improving information literacy across the community.
Another key objective is to grow the community of editors and improve the organization within the Wiki-verse to better combat challenges like disinformation.
Addressing and improving community governance is also mentioned as a crucial objective to ensure the sustainability and effectiveness of the community's efforts.
- 14. Based on survey responses, what are the most important things your community should do at the conference to achieve these objectives?
Respondents emphasized the need for the conference to result in clear, actionable steps that can be implemented after the event.
Several respondents highlighted the importance of bringing relevant people together to build on each other's work, combine efforts, and strengthen strategies.
The community should focus on strategic discussions that lead to thorough planning and the development of infrastructure and tools that can support their goals.
The gathering should raise awareness of key problems, facilitate brainstorming sessions, and build deeper connections that are more difficult to establish online. Respondents noted that in-person events often lead to stronger collaboration and productivity compared to online interactions.
There is a recognition that while much work has been done online, in-person events can accelerate progress by sparking collaboration and establishing connections that have long-term benefits.
