Goals and measures of success
[edit]Project goal
[edit]- The goal of this project is to recruit new users and develop offline community of Wikipedia bahasa Indonesia. The community will also promote Wikipedia and its sister projects, and increase awareness on Wikipedia's volunteerism philosophy.
Measures of success
[edit]- Expected Direct Impact
- Total participant: 300
- Active Wikipedian Engaged: at least 5 per event for edit-a-thon
- New Wikipedian: 100
Project scope and activities
[edit]Format
[edit]Our activities can be categorized into three categories:
- Ngewiki Berjamaah – Wiki-a-thon
We called this kind of event Wiki-Jam (short for “Ngewiki-Berjamaah”). In these events, we choose a featured article from English Wikipedia, then translate it together. Each participant will be given a task to translate one or several subsections of the article until the article completed. By doing this, we introduce and impose the concept of collaboration in Wikipedia, and teach new members how to write for Wikipedia in the most informal, enjoyable, yet effective way.
There are 3 sessions on the event: (1) introduction to Wikipedia - 1 hour, (2) how to write in Wikipedia - 1 hour, (3) edit a thon (1,5 hour). The maximum number of participant is 50.
- WikiStorming – Sharing and Discussion
We called this kind of event “WikiStorming”. In these events, participants are encourage to make 2 minutes presentation about one topic (for example, how to increase collaboration in Wikipedia), after which the community will discuss the idea and execute it together.

Impact
[edit]In the sections below, please describe how the project is related to the Wikimedia mission and Wikimedia's strategic priorities.
Fit to strategy
[edit]- How will this project support the key organizational objectives of
- increasing reach (more people will access or contribute to Wikipedia or our other projects),
- participation (more people actually contributing),
- quality (more content, more useful content, or higher-quality content),
- credibility (more trust in our projects),
- organizational maturity and effectiveness (how it will move you or the Wikimedia community forward),
- or financial sustainability (how it will help you achieve more in the long run)?
- This statement should address at least one of the strategic priorities listed here specifically. See WMF Grants Program criteria for decisionmaking.
- This project ensure the continuity of Wiki-ID community and our effort to promote Wikipedia. The community itself will support Wikimedia key objectives by:
- Increasing reach and quality: Our main activity are to give a tutorial on how to write Wikipedia. We have proven concept of training (we call it "ngewiki berjamaah"). Our biggest tutorial session was attended by 50 people.
- Increasing participation: our community is not only foster online contribution, but also offline contribution. Our member is growing fast from 2 people in June to 17 people that contribute to the effort of promoting Wikipedia. We also have community partners that have committed to help our effort to spread free knowledge.
- Credibility: We introduce what is Wikipedia, what is its philosophy, and—more importantly—how it works, so the trainee and our partners will understand Wikipedia's procedure and policy to control the quality of its content, which in turn will increase Wikipedia credibility.
- Organizational maturity and effectiveness: We support (and be supported by) Wikimedia Indonesia and its effort to promote Wikipedia. We have different approach (we focus more on non-competitive approaches e.g. meetups, collaboration events, etc) but our key goals are essentially the same so the growth of our community will benefits Wikimedia Indonesia.
