Grants:IdeaLab/Sponsor schools using Wikimedia projects
Project idea
[edit]What is the problem you're trying to solve?
[edit]The number of people actively contributing to Wikimedia projects has been steadily decreasing. Schools are a channel to promote Wikimedia projects, but editathons now and then are not very helpful. Meanwhile, while Wikimedia projects have been considered unreliable, they can help the educational sector to improve on their findings. They are currently not fully utilized by schools. Schools also face problems of cost effectiveness when looking for teaching materials which can be provided for free on Wikimedia projects.
What is your solution?
[edit]Wikimedia can sponsor schools to put resources into using Wikimedia projects for teaching and sharing findings to the community. While schools can help promote the use of Wikimedia projects to keep them alive, the projects will also help the academic community to publish their work in a free way. Therefore, this provides an incentive for educational organizations to consider using Wikimedia to their aid while also sustaining Wikimedia's work.
