Grants:IdeaLab/Bot to search for and recommend infobox and wikidata citations
Project idea
[edit]What is the problem you're trying to solve?
[edit]Often infoboxes and wikidata facts have information without sources cited. It may be possible to make a bot that will search for sources (e.g., sources cited in the article, or found from the results of searches for the keywords associated with the infobox field or fact's type and value) and propose that they be added on the talk page. Additional accurate citations can help maintain the quality of wikipedia articles and may help prevent citogenesis.
What is your solution?
[edit]This is an artificial intelligence research project in the field of natural language processing. The Wikimedia Foundation and its volunteers should both be given the option to do this work.
Project goals
[edit]We want to see how good the state of artificial intelligence is by attempting to automatically provide citations for facts from article templates and wikidata. If people start saying the suggestions are good, then maybe it could some day pass en:WP:BOTREQUIRE.
