[edit]Things learned at the conference
[edit]Day 0
[edit]Coming from Taytay, Rizal, I went to Fishermall in Quezon City to catch the bus going to Vigan, The flight was also almost 11 hours and only stopped over twice at the restaurant in different locations. Fortunately we arrived at the Ciudad Fenandina Hotel where the conference will be held the next day at approximately eight o'clock. Before I went to sleep, Sir Alvin and his wife Mam Mary Grace and I were able to tour Vigan at night, so I was able to take pictures of some buildings and landmarks in the area at night.
Day 1
[edit]On the first day of the conference, First we did a photowalk around the historical area of Vigan, I learned a lot from the background stories of each establishments I went to. Just like what is the history of Basi of Ilocos in a Basi store in Vigan. My camera just flicks at the buildings that pass my vision. Vigan is so beautiful then we go to Baluarte Mini Zoo in Ilocos Sur and we amazed on what we saw.
In the afternoon, we went to Old Provincial Jail of Ilocos Sur in Vigan which is part of National Museum of the Philippines in Ilocos Complex. After the introductions and welcome remarks from the National Museum staff, the program then commenced with Dr. Gerona's lecture on The Founding of the Villa Fernandina in Vigan. It is followed by Linguistic Hospitality: The Risk of Translating P. Payo's 1867 Ibanag-Spanish Dictionary into English by Fr. Edmundo Castañeda Jr.
Later on, after of very engaging and interesting discussion, we went on a quick visit of the exhibits in the Old Provincial Jail of Vigan.
Day 2
[edit]On the second day of the conference, I learned about:
- About Wikisource, how to edit, and what the functions of each code in Wikisource are.
- Additionaly, I also learned the importance of Macro photo introduced by Mr. Mark Casindac, what lense should use, and how to take a photo in Macro photography.
- In the afternoon, We, the participants of the Wiki GLAM in Vigan takes a tour on the National Museum of the Philippines - Ilocos complex especially in Padre Burgos Museum, I was amazed at the importance of each part of the house during the Spanish period, etc., we also went to the Crisologo Museum and I was amazed at the antiques left behind by Mr. Crisologo when he was alive, I admit that I have no background knowledge about him so it is a new knowledge for me to get to know him through a tour of his house.
I can say that the second day at GLAM was the day that I learned a lot, in history, in the surroundings and in the biography of the famous people we visited.
Day 2 snapshots
[edit]Day 3
[edit]The 3rd day, GLAM was solely intended to Experience in Ilocos Norte. It was a guided tour with the participation of the Ilocos Norte Tourism, I also learned a lot from what the tour guide said, it's a pity that the time was a bit short but my experiences on the third day were worth it. I got to ride a 4x4 vehicle and it was amazing that the Philippine desert was real. After that, we went to Malacañang of the north and also to Paoay Church. So I will never forget this experience I had on the third day.
