Welcome to GLAM Wiki 2025, the Wikimedia movement’s GLAM, Culture and Heritage Conference!
[edit]The GLAM Wiki community is a worldwide network, with projects, initiatives, and activities spanning every timezone and continent. This conference serves as a vital gathering for the community—a time to celebrate achievements, exchange experiences, foster learning, strengthen connections, and collaboratively shape the future of our shared mission.
This event is co-organized by Wikimedia Portugal (WMPT) and Wiki Editoras Lx (WELx). You can read more about this collaboration on Diff.
The conference will take place 30 October to 1 November, 2025, in Lisbon, Portugal.
Who Should Attend?
[edit]This conference is designed for individuals and organizations engaged in cultural and heritage initiatives within the open movement. Our target participants include:
- Wikimedia Community Members working on projects with heritage institutions or running campaigns to enhance the representation of cultural and heritage diversity. GLAM Managers in Affiliates, WiR in cultural heritage institutions, among others.
- Professionals from galleries, libraries, archives, and museums (GLAMs), especially those involved in Wikimedia collaborations, seeking to exchange knowledge and best practices.
- Academics and Researchers with an interest in open access to cultural and heritage materials, exploring how Wikimedia projects can serve and be useful for their work.
- Public Policy Advocates and Civil Society Organizations working to expand access to cultural and heritage knowledge, particularly for underrepresented and underserved communities cultural groups.
- External partners such as international organizations committed to knowledge equity and digital heritage accessibility.
