Editing contest for high school students

[edit]

In the period from April 18 till May 8, we started editing contest for high school students, as a joint project with Shared Knowledge. The contest named "Articles by Year by Area", was divided in three weeks, with awards for the best article each week, plus awards for the best three participants.

Only students aged 15 to 18 had the right to participate in the contest. The participants had to edit articles, which are missing from Wikipedia in the Macedonian language, and these were reviewed and scored by a three-member jury, which made a final decision on the winners.

The best three participants are ranked based on the marks awarded by the members of the jury committee:

Number Participant Result
1 Viktor Borjevic 233
2 Kalan Wiki2 168
3 Petar Barsa 129

In the first and the third week, there was no best article, only in the second week the jury members proclaimed the best article of the week. It was LGBT rights in the 19th century created by the participant Kalan Wiki2.

In the three weeks of the editing contest, 5 students took part, and they created 42 new articles.

Awarding statuettes for permanent contribution

[edit]

On May 25, 2022, the first statuettes of Wikipedians for permanent contribution were awarded, which is the highest recognition given to the editors of the Macedonian language Wikipedia as a sign of gratitude for their long-term contribution to the project. Each of the award-winning editors received an award-winning statuette with the Wikipedia logo. The plan is to award this kind of statuettes also in the years to come, and the awards will go to those Wikipedians who will meet the conditions:

  • at least 10 years from the first to the last editing;
  • at least 10 consecutive years with editing done;
  • at least 10,000 edits (without undo and automatic edits); and
  • the editor has not been blocked for more than a week
