Proposed Fundraising Procedure

- Income and expense forecasted by the Executive Director, WMF Board, and central staff
- Budget approved by the board and posted

- Target date set for the fundraiser based on gap between current money and need
- Lead donors sought by Board and staff
- Donors should be willing to provide a dollar-for-dollar match of all contributions made on one or more days
- Back-end data acquisition and management procedures developed, tested, finalized
- CRM
- Integration with other wmf db's?
- FundCom coordinates with community
- Fundraising messages created and translated
- Standard fundraising pages updated/improved as needed
- Press release created by ComCom
- Running fundraiser
- Fundraiser starts and press release distributed by ComCom
- Message on every page on each project website announcing drive
- Automatic counter and tracking page gives feedback. Examples:
- Daily summary reports given
- Lists donations by currency and donation method
- Tracking progress
- Donations made via
- PayPal (most common method)
- Mail/Post (second most common)
- Dexia money transfer (third most common)
- MoneyBookers
- Commissions made through merchandise sale
- CafePress shop

- Donations made via
- Drive ends either at pre-set date or when a set amount is raised
- Post-drive Office activities:
- Receipts sent
- Thank you notes sent
- Ideally most of this can be automated by CRM
- Budget adjusted if needed
- Analysis and evaluation of fund drive conducted. Possibilities:
- Measure impact of the matching contributions
- Measure which appeals led directly to donations (clickthrough tracking)
- Measure effect of email vs snail-mail thank-yous.
- Differences in impact on editors, general public, previous donors, etc.?
