English: Lollypop chameleon
- Glucose (lollipop) is added to a permanganate solution together with sodium hydroxide. In a series of redox reactions change of colors is visible: starts with purple (which corresponds to permanganate ions, MnO4–) and begins to change to blue (intermediate color), green (manganate ions, MnO42–), yellow-brown (manganese dioxide, i.e. MnO32– ions) and orange (colloidal suspension of brown-black manganese dioxide in alkaline solution) at the end. An intermediate blue stage occurs between steps involving MnO4– and MnO42– ions. In this reaction, the reducing agent is glucose (C6H12O6), and the first oxidising agent is the permanganate ions (MnO4–). - Гликоза (во вид на лижавче) се додава кон раствор од перманганат со натриум хидроксид. Преку серија редокс реакции, се забележува промена на боите: започнува со виолетова (што се должи на перманганатните јони, MnO4–), преку сина (преодна боја), зелена (манганатни јони, MnO42–), жолто-кафеава (манган диоксид, односно MnO32– јони) до портокалова (колоидна суспензија на кафеавоцрниот манган диоксид во алкален раствор) на крајот. Преодната сина фаза се јавува помеѓу чекорите што вклучуваат MnO4– и MnO42– јони. Во оваа реакција, редукционо средство е гликозата (C6H12O6), а првичното оксидационо средство се перманганатните јони (MnO4–).
