Македонски: Мали парчиња литиум се ставаат во епрувета со вода. Веднаш започнува реакција. Добиениот гас се пали со запалка. Гасот гори, а бојата на пламенот е кармин црвена. Реакциите што се одвиваат, може да се опишат со равенките:
Реакција на литиум со вода: 2Li(s) + 2H2O(l) = 2LiOH(aq) + H2(g) Горење на водород: H2(g) + ½ O2(g) = H2O(g) Потоа, кон реакционата смеса се додаваат неколку капки раствор од фенолфталеин. Бојата на индикаторот се менува во малиновоцрвена што укажува на тоа дека е добиено соединение со базни својства (литиум хидроксид, LiOH). Осмислено и изведено од Марина Стојановска, Миха Буклески и Владимир Петрушевски, Институт за хемија, ПМФ, УКИМ, Скопје.English: Small pieces of lithium metal are placed in a test tube partly filled with water. The reaction starts right away and the generated gas is lighted by a lighter. The gas burns with a crimson red flame. The chemical reactions that occur can be described by the equations:
Reaction of lithium with water: 2Li(s) + 2H2O(l) = 2LiOH(aq) + H2(g) Hydrogen burning: H2(g) + ½ O2(g) = H2O(g) Afterwards, few drops of phenolphthalein solution are added to the reaction mixture. The color of the indicator turns raspberry red, indicating that a compound with basic properties (lithium hydroxide, LiOH) has been formed.
