Grade for an Article
[edit]Please I wish to ask what is the modalities used in grading a newly created article, and why an article created could have one mark. I am open to improving the article but i wish to know more on the grading @Ibjaja055, @Atibrarian and other organizers. The article in question is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agro-Climatic_Resilience_in_Semi-Arid_Landscapes

- It's hilarious!
- The article I improved within the campaign period June - August 31st all of a sudden are NO longer part of what counts and been deleted. Hackesan (talk) 12:04, 18 October 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for your inquiry regarding the grading process for your article, @Umar2z. The reviewers have used our established grading system, which you can find at Topic list/guidelines, and @Ibjaja055 will also respond to your question shortly.
- On another note, @Hackesan, it seems there has been a misunderstanding on your part regarding this campaign guidelines. I had previously reached out on your talk page at and sent a message via the W4HR 2024 at Gombe WhatsApp group to clarify the contest rules. The campaign officially ended on August 31st, with an extension until September 5th to allow all participants to finalize their contributions before the review process began. All coordinators agreed that no additional contributions would be accepted after this deadline to ensure the reviewers could proceed without disruptions.
- It was surprising to see that your contributions, which you confirmed were made during the campaign, were added much later, on October 9th, after we had begun preparing to announce the top contributors. Moreover, I noticed that your name was added to the list and graded without prior notification to the reviewers or coordinators, which goes against the campaign’s rules. Fortunately, I was alerted to this through my watchlist, allowing me to address the situation promptly.
- Let’s ensure we adhere to the guidelines so we can maintain fairness for all participants.
- Thank you for your understanding. Bukky658 (talk) 15:19, 18 October 2024 (UTC)
- @Hackesan Thank you for your great contributions to the campaign. However, to be fair and just, we deem it fit to have set of rules guiding the contest. One of those rules is to edit and record your contributions on the meta page in a specified period of time. I believe your community organiser @Atibrarian would have explained to you vividly during your two physical meet ups in Gombe and you would have also heard it from thefive online meetups including the office hours organised by @Bukky658 and @Semmy1960. If you missed all these sessions, you should know that the team has done more than enough to be clear of the do's and don'ts of the campaign.
........- Coming down to your complaints, you have contributed to the campaigns during the specified period but you did not record your contributions on the meta page just like the other contributors did just like the way it was specified in the Rules and regulations. Even after additional two weeks were added. I can say that I was shocked to see someone editing the meta page two weeks after the marks have been allocated and the results have been compiled. All efforts to reach out to you via the community, community leader and your meta page has proven to be abortive. So, please, stop editing the meta page of the event, it is becoming disruptive. I think I have provided more than enough clarifications. Thank you. Ibjaja055 (talk) 18:22, 18 October 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for taking out time to explain the situation. All I wanted is my contribution being recorded on the List of Articles improved NOT necessarily because of contest or aiming for a prize with contributions. Regards! Hackesan (talk) 06:57, 21 October 2024 (UTC)
- @Umar2z Your article was created from the scratch and it was recorded as +5 on my report (I just checked). The mixup would have been during the process of recording it on the meta page. Therefore, it would be changed to reflect the points. However, I am very sure you could have raised the issue with @Atibrarian who is your community organiser and the issue would have been addressed instead of bringing it here. Secondly, there is a WhatsApp group created by the organiser @Bukky658 and @Semmy1960. I am confidently sure that you are there, you could have reached out to any of the admin including me and the issue would have been solved. The groups were created to ease communication, I guess and I think you can implement those channels of communication in the future. Ibjaja055 (talk) 17:39, 18 October 2024 (UTC)
- thanks very much, I will take note of the channel subsequently. Most importantly for me is to know the stance of the article on Wikipedia space. Am sorry if my action caused any fuss but I assure you it's in good fate. Thanks to the Organizers, you guys are maturely addressing issues. Umar2z (talk) 07:45, 19 October 2024 (UTC)
