Project Overview
The leadership of education in Ghana is yet to come in terms with Wikidata and other Wikimedia projects. This event seeks to cease the opportunity to recruit and involve them in trainings to gain a better understanding about Wikidata in particular and how useful it can be to them as educators. When these leaders and teachers understand and accept Wikidata and even get involved in the creation and sharing of its information, there will be enhanced use of Wikidata among many Ghanaians because they are the producers of the country’s human resources.
EVENT GOAL
The event seeks to achieve the following:
Recruit and equip the leadership of Education into Wikimedia movement to build the sense of trust and ownership of Wikidata and other Wikimedia projects among them.
Involvement of Educators, both teaching and non-teaching staff in contributing actively to Wikidata projects.
Acceptance and use of information on Wikidata and other Wikimedia projects by Educators in their teaching and learning processes.
Contribute to build a repository of resources on Wikidata by the leadership of education that can complement their limited teaching and learning resources.
Build an informed minds of educators about Wikidata who can then explain to others in different areas to arouse their interest for possible replication of the training sessions in their directorates. This can lead to Ghana Education Service accepting Wikidata into their curriculum.
Team & Roles
The following team members will assist in different ways to ensure the success of the events.
