WikiGap 2025 in Nigeria is a celebration of International Women’s Day (IWD) organized by Wikimedia Usergroup Nigeria and Embassy of Sweden in Nigeria in proud partnership with the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Women FM 91.7 and Nordic Hotel. This year's theme is "Accelerate Action," thereby ensuring that no woman is left behind, especially on the internet.

    • Her Excellency Annika Hahn-Englund: Ambassador of Sweden to Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon and ECOWAS.
    • Dr Nkiru Balonwu: Founder of The Africa Soft Power Group, an initiative focused on leveraging Africa's creative and knowledge industries to propel the continent forward.
    • Korede Demola-Adeniyi: Executive Director (South) at The Alternative Bank, with over 30 years of experience in the banking industry, encompassing leadership, wealth management, and treasury management.
    • Toyin Ogunlana: Director General of the Lagos State Records and Archives Bureau (LASRAB), dedicated to preserving and managing Lagos State's records and archives.
    • Oluwatoyin Atanda: Senior Special Assistant on Establishments and Training to the Governor of Lagos State and the 2025 President of Junior Chamber International (JCI) Nigeria, committed to youth leadership and development.

Press Briefing

As part of IWD/WikiGap 2025, we plan to organize a high-level press briefing to share our journey in promoting Nigerian women since the launch of WikiGap in Nigeria in 2019. This conversation will include all our partners, highlighting their contributions and impact.

WikiGap 2025 Nigeria Online Challenge

WikiGap Nigeria Online Challenge is a public writing challenge to create new articles for notable women and improve existing articles about women on Wikipedia. The aim is to bridge the contents gap about Women on Wikipedia, the world's largest online encyclopedia with focus on English, Yoruba, Hausa, Igbo and Tyap Wikipedia.

The Challenge is organized as part of the global WikiGap campaign by Wikimedia Nigeria and the Embassy of Sweden in Nigeria, in collaboration with Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Wofem FM 91.7 and Nordic Hotel.
