Hands-on introduction to AutoWikiBrowser
[edit]Abstract/description
[edit]Run a hands-on workshop for experienced users on AutoWikiBrowser.
What I am hoping to achieve
[edit]Upskill existing contributors with the ability to manage a group of articles more easily by being able to identify the set of articles that meet some criteria (e.g. something that needs updating, fixing, etc) and manage working through those articles. It might include using Petscan as an adjunct tool with an alternative method to selecting the articles (the two can be combined).
As this is intended as an introductory session, I would not be covered semi-automating changes to articles (a more advanced skill and best done in a following session once people have grasped the introductory material). I might do simple searching but probably not an introduction to regular expression.
Important constraints. AutoWikiBrowser runs on Windows. Users must be registered to use this tool, which attendees would need to arrange in advance (the criteria isn't hard to meet for an experienced editor). Therefore, pre-registration for this session would be necessary so we can get the approval process completed before WikiCon.
Relationship to Wiki skills or to the theme

Duration
[edit]60 minutes -- difficult to cover in less time, even just for an introduction as described above.
