The 2024 #WikiForHumanRights 2024:Knowledge for a Sustainable Future, encourages Wikimedia communities to expand topics important to human rights in a sustainable future. In lieu with the theme of this 2024 edition, the Igbo Wikimedians Community will focus on the Sustainable Development Goals which resonates and aligns with the happenstaces of her community focusing on SDG 1 (No Poverty) and SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production).
To this end, this project identifies the human rights central to sustainability issues in the Igbo Wikimedians Community context which are SDG 1 (No Poverty) and SDG12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) that affect how we implement the Sustainable Development Goals and create a sustainable future for all. The Igbo Wikimedians community would take part in this campaign focusing on topics that combine Human Rights and SDGs for this campaign.
SDG 1 aims to eradicate every form of extreme poverty including the lack of food, clean drinking water, and sanitation. Achieving this goal includes finding solutions to new threats caused by climate change and conflict. This Sustainable Development Goal focuses not just on people living in poverty, but also on the services people rely on and social policy that either promotes or prevents poverty.
Furthermore, changes in consumption and production patterns can help to promote the decoupling of economic growth and human well-being from resource use and environmental impact, thereby curbing the poverty rate in the society. Sustainable Development Goal 12 ensures sustainable consumption and production patterns and also good use of resources, so as to improve energy efficiency and sustainable infrastructure, while providing access to basic services, create green and decent jobs, and ensure a better quality of life for all.
In this 2024 W4HR Campaign, the Igbo Wikimedians community will engage her community to contribute/participate to create entries about human right, right to food, Food security, extreme poverty on the Igbo Wiktionary, Igbo Wikipedia, and Wikidata.
