Wikimedistas of Uruguay gives you the welcome to the Challenge of Programming that looks for to encourage to people with knowledges of programming and to the technical community of the projects Wikimedia to create games to improve the information of items in Wikidata related to our country and/or to Latin America and the Caribbean, using the tool The Distributed Game.
You can participate from 1 May to 15 June 2024 inclusive. Those who have created the top 3 games, selected by a jury made up of members of the Wikimedia community, will receive a $100 gift card.
How to participate?
You have to:
- Accept the bases and conditions that encontrás in the section Base.
- Subscribe to the challenge on this page with your Wikimedia account.
- Create a membership in Toolforge to host your API.
- Once you complete the challenge, email us at info@wikimedistas.uy with your username, link to the repository and link to the game so we can evaluate it.
What do you need?
To create the game, you need to have the following links at hand:
- API hosting: a membership in Toolforge
- Programming language: PHP, Python, Node.js or other free technologies
- Gitlab Repository or the alternative you consider
- Boilerplate of the API for Node.js
- Instructivo of how create the API
- Wikidata Query Service to choose a theme and create tiles
