Audio-Educational Seminar of Wikimedia Mexico

Summary: In 2022, the Wikimedia Mexico Education Program seeks to promote new projects that invite people to learn about and understand the educational phenomenon generated by Wikipedia and the Wikimedia projects. In April, the "Audio-seminar" project was inaugurated, consisting of dialoguing, debating, and reflecting on academic articles in relation to Wiki and non-Wiki projects once a month.

Based on the use of the Clubhouse platform, the article entitled "Wikipedia and open recognition: writing the future of work" was addressed in the first edition. This text presents important topics such as Wikipedia and the use of free licenses, the work that the encyclopedia did to break with skepticism and mistrust of it, the importance of communities for Open Recognition, what is the role we take, and the recognition difference with other applications.

Important points for Open Recognition and Wikipedia are the cost structure (free) and the scope of knowledge, all outside these barriers that the school or society itself sometimes imposes.

With the people who attended, questions were raised about the importance of open recognition outside and inside Wikipedia, why it is relevant to share knowledge, and what is the role of the school in these points.

We believe that these open spaces can generate more confidence in people who inhabit the world of education and can encourage them to explore and implement these projects in their classrooms in a formal and non-formal setting.
