ESEAP Hub/Interim Committee Meetings/30 July 2023
There have been member changes within the ESEAP Hub Interim Committee in July. Starting from July 30th, the Interim Committee consists of 8 members for the rest of the mandate until Wikimania 2023. In detail: 1) Gnangarra and Butch have resigned from the Interim Committee. 2) Reke replaced Joyce in representing the Wikimedia Taiwan Chapter. 3) Johnny as a new member joined by a majority vote of the committee, following the nomination of Butch.
Following the community voting results on the Interim Committee mandate extension, in this meeting the Interim Committee members focused on identifying challenges, goals and priorities until Wikimania 2023. Areas identified include how to best use the time at the ESEAP Summit, showing the challenges and way forward at the ESEAP Summit, having the election process defined, stakeholder representation and understanding silent majority, presenting different proposals and analyses of the roles and responsibilities document despite have not yet achieved consensus, and agreeing on a smaller starting point for the first year grant.
Ongoing Work
[edit]The Interim Committee is currently working on the following things:
- Discuss priority areas for the 2023 ESEAP Summit and continue the planning.
- Starting the election planning, including mitigating vote-fixing by identifying ESEAP’s stakeholders.
- Planning for the transition period between the end of the Interim Committee mandate and the creation of the new body.
Decisions
[edit]- The Interim Committee decided to work on a communication plan to share the next steps following the voting results with the community.
- The Interim Committee decided to focus on election planning for the remaining mandate and will pass on the work that has already started to the new body: including the submission of the grant proposal and the finalization of the roles and responsibilities document.
