Attending the ESEAP Wikimedia Conference has been a significant milestone in my journey as a Malay from Indonesia. It has reinforced my commitment to preserving and promoting my cultural heritage through Wikimedia projects. This experience has empowered me to contribute actively to the global knowledge community, ensuring that the rich tapestry of Malay culture is accessible to all.

I am grateful for the opportunity to represent my heritage and excited about the future contributions I will make to Wikimedia. This conference has not only broadened my horizons but also deepened my appreciation for the diversity that defines our world. and thanks to ESEAP Conference's team that give me an chance to get full scholarship,and all people that involved in the conference.

Things learned in the Conference

At the conference, I had the opportunity to learn about various cultures from around the region. It was fascinating to see how different countries preserve and share their heritage through Wikimedia projects. Despite facing unique challenges and limitations, such as language barriers and limited internet access, these communities are finding innovative ways to contribute to wikimedia project.

One of the key takeaways from the conference was understanding how students can be involved in Wikimedia projects. Students play a crucial role in creating and editing content, ensuring that information is accurate and up-to-date. By participating in Wikimedia projects, students not only enhance their research and writing skills but also contribute to the democratization of knowledge, making it accessible to everyone.

Things contributed and Participated in the conference

I was a speaker In two session on the same day, my first session is WikiMelayu: Inheriting the Malay Audio Visual Heritage of North Sumatra. This session highlighted the rich audiovisual heritage of the Malay community in North Sumatra, including traditional music, dance, and oral literature. I discussed the importance of documenting and preserving these cultural expressions through Wikimedia platforms to ensure they are accessible to future generations. And the second is Optimizing the Role of Social Media as a Learning and Collaboration Platform.
