ESEAP Conference 2024/Report/Altair Netraphim
The ESEAP Conference 2024 was the bi-annual international conference of Wikimedia Foundation which took place in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia on 10–12 May 2024. This was the third conference that has been held for the ESEAP region.
Comments
[edit]For me, this is a very extraordinary event that I participated in this year, especially related to Wikimedia. Nevertheless, there needs to be improvements here and there so that the next conference is better than the previous one.
From ESEAP Conference 2024, I learned that:
- All countries have their own challenges for developing communities or finding contributors to Wikimedia projects.
- Many people care about language and free access to knowledge.
- Incorporating activities such as editing or contributing to Wikimedia projects into our routine is an easy way to share knowledge.

Acknowledgments
[edit]I would like to give thanks to the Wikimedia Foundation, especially the ESEAP Regional Cooperation which houses the collaboration of Wikimedians from the Southeast Asia, East Asia and Pacific regions which has given me the opportunity to become a participant by obtaining an activity scholarship from the organizer this conference. I also give thanks to Wikimedia Community User Group Malaysia, as the host committee, who had tried hard to make this conference a success. I also give thanks to Wikimedia Indonesia and Yogyakarta Wikimedia Community who also supported the success of this conference.
Future plans
[edit]I have several plans after the conference:
- Sharing my experience to reach wider audience via social media posts.
- Sharing my experience to fellow Yogyakarta Wikimedia Community members (in a community monthly meeting).
