Dhasa Summer School 2022

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Wikimedia ZA presented at the DHASA summer school to provide participants with a better understanding of the importance of Wikipedia in academia. The presentation discussed how Wikipedia can be used to support research, provide access to sources, and engage with the public. The presentation also provided an overview of the Wikimedia projects, including Wikidata, Wikisource, and Wikimedia Commons. Participants learned how to create, edit, and expand Wikipedia articles, as well as how to use Wikimedia projects to support their research. The presentation also included examples of successful Wikipedia projects in the academic space, and practical advice on how to use Wikipedia in their research. Finally, the presentation discussed the Wikimedia Foundation's commitment to open access and the importance of open, collaborative projects in academia.
