1. Experiences and best practices from earlier work with content partnership? New organization, no current partnerships. Some work with the University of Ghana and also with the language department of the university of education, Ghana. Building partnerships within the community, mainly around the Mole-Dagbani languages. Organizing edit-a-thons and training on how to edit Wikipedia and Wikdata, also organizing WLE, WLM and WLF photo contests. Also working with recording sound and film and not only photos. Working with translations, doing translations on Wikidata and also preparing for Abstract Wikipedia as they are a selected language for the pilot. Spell for wiki (similar to Lingua Libre), goal to record 400+ unique Dagbani words that could be added to wiktionary and other platforms. Working with media institutions who help advocate and spread the word. Hoping to have partnerships in place soon to reach further. Looking for Arts centers and similar orgs for coming partnerships. Informal partnership with The Savannah Centre for Contemporary Art (SCCA. Planning to work around WikiGap and (?).
2. What are the main needs in future and expanding work with partners? Getting partnerships in place. Having a place to run events in order not to have to rent space all the time. Need support to have the internet and network in place for events. Currently it’s expensive and not very reliable. Getting partners to help out with WLM and similar contests. Libraries would be a great fit as they can provide source material. Lack of resources to digitize material. FoP does not allow taking photos of some monuments. Training and workshops on copyright issues and similar are important not to add restricted material.
Working with several organizations in Ghana to strengthen the UG. Working with WMNO and hoping to expand to other chapters (including WMSE) also.
3. What would a good and efficient support practically look like? Working with content partners who can provide material. Work with other Wikimedia affiliates to learn tools and platform support.
WiR: Nothing yet, but interesting for the future. Working with Art and Feminism with the West African communities. Discussion around WikiTounges(?).
Working with Quick Statements to batch edit Wikidata. Hoping to learn more about OpenRefine to work with that also. Getting training from the community, and in some cases specific training one on one. English works fine as a common language.
