Default to last view chosen - mobile on web browser
- Problem: Every time I go into Wikipedia using Chrome on my Android phone and sometimes when I do so using Safari on my iPad, the Mobile version, not my strongly preferred Desktop version, appears, even though I change it to Desktop every time. This is especially an issue when coming from Google search results.
- Proposed solution: Remember the last setting used by this user in this browser.
- Who would benefit: Mobile device users who use a browser rather than an app to access Wikipedia.

I've seen similar reports of this but we have never been able to consistently reproduce. The mobile site is currently designed to do this by using cookies. Perhaps there is an issue somewhere in that code or this needs to work without cookies. A bug report detailing information such as browser version, device and version, cookie settings and replication steps would be greatly appreciated and if we are able to reproduce would happily be solved outside the wishlist. - Thank you. In fact, I have mainly encountered this using Chrome on a Samsung 10 phone, where reverting back to Mobile view happens every time. I know it formerly worked properly on my earlier Samsung Galaxy phones - 7, 4, and original Galaxy - and other browsers, including the Samsung browser. I have been using the 10/Chrome combination since September 2019. I rarely encounter it on my iPad Mini 5th Generation using Safari, but sometimes it happens when I choose certain types of Google results. RSLitman (talk) 20:05, 11 January 2022 (UTC)
- Hello and thanks for taking the time to write this proposal. We identified this is related to this task, which is out of scope for our team but an idea that's valid nonetheless. I am therefore moving it to the Larger Suggestions Category. Thanks again! Regards, NRodriguez (WMF) (talk) 00:35, 25 January 2022 (UTC)
- @RSLitman: FYI, there is a script that may come in handy: NeverUseMobileVersion. NguoiDungKhongDinhDanh 16:15, 26 January 2022 (UTC)

- Support Constantly frustrating, would be good for this to be fixed. Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 19:05, 28 January 2022 (UTC)
- Support Could be something as simple as d.wikipedia.org being automatically desktop regardless of browser in the same way m.wikipedia.org defaults to mobile? DMacks (talk) 21:01, 29 January 2022 (UTC)
