Aim for workflow equivalence for MediaWiki on desktop and mobile web
- Problem: There are many useful features in the web version that are not available in mobile browser. And many others are not so flexible as they are in web version.
- Proposed solution: Make useful features available for mobile and make them easy to use
- Who would benefit: Mass readers and contributors

Discussion
Hello @Md Maruf Parvez, would it be possible for you to give examples of those tools? What do you miss in particular? What do you need? Have you used the Advanced mobile contributions? SGrabarczuk (WMF) (talk) 02:48, 13 January 2022 (UTC)
Hello and thanks for taking the time to write this proposal. We are archiving this wish due to a lack of clarification. We needed clarification so that we could accept this wish and mark it for translation so that it could go into voting. Thanks again! Regards, NRodriguez (WMF) (talk) 17:32, 26 January 2022 (UTC)
- @NRodriguez (WMF): FWIW this is more or less a request for phab:T158181 I think, which could conceivably go in the "Larger projects" pile. I anecdotally see people complain about mobile Minerva not offering the same tooling as on desktop and I suspect a wish to that effect would see a landslide of editors hitting the Support button during the vote. Consider whether to de-archive accordingly. Izno (talk) 21:50, 26 January 2022 (UTC)
- This is a great point! Going to re-work the wording of this wish to be closer aligned with the phab task and move into Larger Suggestions, thanks for the tip @Izno and for all your help with the survey. Best, NRodriguez (WMF) (talk) 13:34, 27 January 2022 (UTC)
- The main thing I am frustrated about is that on mobile, the map coordinates of a location on the planet don't show up at all. E.g. in en:Pearl Street Mall I see coords in the upper right on desktop, but nowhere on mobile. ★NealMcB★ (talk) 03:19, 3 February 2022 (UTC)

- Oppose I would rather prefer the mobile app to act as a reader and light editor than making the inefficient effort of trying to implement all features of MediaWiki across the app when they're already accessible from the website. I personally think that we should stop work on the current mobile site and work on optimizing the current desktop site for mobile, especially with the work being done on New Vector. Then, everyone can have access to all of the features on any screen size and input form, and the look of Wikimedia wikis remains consistent across all devices. That way we do not have to build and maintain MediaWiki features on the app, mobile website, and the desktop website. Lectrician1 (talk) 00:45, 29 January 2022 (UTC)
- Oppose per above. KingAntenor (talk) 07:28, 2 February 2022 (UTC)
- Oppose Lectrician1's suggestion seems sensible. Duplication of effort should be avoided. Silver hr (talk) 15:55, 3 February 2022 (UTC)
- Oppose Not everyone needs tools on mobile, most editing is in browser. Thingofme (talk) 14:45, 5 February 2022 (UTC)
