Results over time

The Community Safety survey is conducted periodically to understand contributors’ sense of safety on different wiki spaces, and how it changes over time. The results of each wave are presented below, by project.

NOTE: Differences between waves of the survey are not statistically significant unless otherwise noted: v and ^ notations indicate statistically significant changes from the previous survey.

The question asked of users was:

“In the last 30 days, have you felt unsafe or uncomfortable contributing to Wikipedia (xx.wikipedia.org)?”

with xx denoting the Wikipedia language (for example, for French it was “fr.wikipedia.org”).

The options to respond were: “Yes,” “No,” and “I'm not sure.”

Starting in 2024, for those who answered "Yes," a second question was asked:

"Can you tell us why you felt unsafe or uncomfortable? Select all that apply."

with options provided as well as the ability to write in a reason.
