The Assamese Wikimedia Community aims to create a comprehensive digital repository of Assam's rich and diverse cultural heritage. This initiative seeks to document and showcase both well-known and lesser-known aspects of Assamese culture on global platforms like Wikimedia Commons, Wiki Data and Wikipedia. By doing so, we aspire to preserve Assam's cultural identity for future generations, raise global awareness about its unique traditions, and encourage active community participation in Wikimedia projects. In a rapidly globalizing world, traditional cultural elements are at risk of being forgotten or overshadowed, and the Assamese community is no exception. Many cultural and traditional practices, artifacts, and knowledge of Assamese tribes remain undocumented or scattered, By addressing these challenges, this initiative will ensure that Assam's cultural gems are preserved, celebrated, and accessible to a global audience, while fostering a sense of pride and active participation within the Assamese community.

- A dedicated event page will be established, encompassing all pertinent information.
- In addition to Wikipedia and Wikimedia mailing lists and on-wiki notifications, active promotion of the contest will be undertaken across various social media channels.
- We will invite interested participants from across Assam by announcing the initiative through local newspapers and other regional media platforms to ensure widespread awareness and participation.
- Workshops: A training workshop will be organized at the start of the project after all the advertisements to equip participants with the skills to document cultural elements effectively. It will help the participants to learn how to upload media to Wikimedia Commons and create or enhance Wikipedia articles.
- Fieldwork: We will divide participants into groups and assign them regions of Assam to explore and document cultural treasures, including attire, crafts, festivals, music, dance, cuisine, and rituals.
- Data Contribution: Perticipants will upload all collected photographs, videos, and detailed descriptions to Wikimedia Commons. After that they will use the data to enhance existing Wikipedia articles or create new articles focusing on Assamese culture.
