Chapters coordination

Intro: I started this page after an IRC talk with Delphine. Delphine is the chapter coordinator, but she is often very busy and she asked me to start a form of platform for coordinating/communicating between local WMF chapters. On this page we can talk about the platform, but it could be simply a platform of coordination for the moment. We need it, because we are not lonely islands. We have experience and wisdom, which we are able to share. Some chapters are based on one language only (like Wikimedia Italia or Wikimedia Polska). We know our language projects very well, we know their good sides and local communities' conceptions/initiatives. With this visdom and experience we can work for local Wikimedia projects better. Who is who?

So, some of us know some people from other chapters. On local chapter wikis we described ourselves, but on this page we could write more :) "Who is who" will allow us to find parnners for cooperation regarding specific problems, I hope.

Communication

We need a platform of communication. It means, that we need space of communication both - own wiki or some pages on meta-wiki and good system of communication - IRC, mailing list etc. There is important time for communication, which will be aproachable for all chapters. I want to ask you: When could we organize meetings on the Internet and how? In our chapter we have worked out practces of communication. We could use it for the moment

Wikimedia Polska

• Meetings on IRC #wikimedia-pl every thursday (20:00 local time - U+1h or U+2h) - the best way to meet people, mostly board memebers (but not only) from Wikimedia Polska. If you want to talk about concrete, please add info to the agenda here before meeting.

What we do for our local communities?

• pl:chapter:Wikikonkurs - "Wikicompetition", or better "wikigrants" - we spent some money on projects realised by users (tickets, books, materials, etc.)

What our communities do to improve Wikimedia projects?

Please add the most interesting info about specific actions of your local community or community which you know well (we have ~250 local Wikipedias, not to mention other Wikimedia projects :) and the most interesting and specific things in them (without interwiki). If this page gets large, we can move it to a subpage.

• pl:Wikipedia:Sprzątanie Wikipedii - cleanup of Wikipedia - in MediaWiki:Anonnoitice we often add a link to actions which are oriented at improving quality of Wikipedia (photos, bugs etc.)
• pl:Wikiprojekt:Antyhoax - Antihoax - a bot which searches the article titles in Google, users verify possible hoax entries confronting the information with printed sources

• Photoreportage - new form of articles based often on new stuff from Commons
