Abstract:

This workshop offers a practical introduction to AutoWikiBrowser (AWB), a powerful semi-automated editing tool for Wikimedia projects. Participants will learn about AWB’s history, key features, and its benefits for simplifying repetitive editing tasks.

The session will cover:

  • Installation and setup on different operating systems.
  • How to request access and understand usage policies.
  • Navigating AWB’s interface and essential functions.
  • Creating and managing page lists for batch editing.
  • Using Find & Replace and Regular Expressions (Regex).
  • Managing exceptions and advanced features such as scripting and plugins.
  • Best practices for responsible and efficient use of AWB.

The workshop will also include instructions for running AWB on non-Windows systems via Wine/Mono and introduce alternative tools like JWB (JavaScript Wiki Browser).

The session will be conducted in English, with explanations available in Persian if needed.

Special requirements: A room with a projector and internet access. It would also be great if there is space available for participants to use their laptops.
