Abstract: CEE Youth Group — an initiative of the CEE Hub aimed at informally connecting young Wikimedians (under 30) from Central and Eastern Europe and Central Asia. Since its establishment in May 2023, the group has been fostering collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and capacity building through bi-monthly meetings and peer support networks. In this session, I will introduce the CEE Youth Group, its activities, and its impact on young contributors. Attendees will learn how to get involved, benefit from shared experiences, and create new opportunities within their local communities. The session will also include insights from my personal journey in the group.			Slides:

How will this session be beneficial for the communities in the region of Central Asia? The languages ​​of Central Asia are poorly represented and underdeveloped in comparison not only with the world, but even in comparison with the languages ​​of the CEE region. This session will help Central Asian Wikimedia communities by introducing them to the CEE Youth Group, an initiative that fosters collaboration, peer support, and capacity building for young Wikimedians. Many young contributors in the region face challenges such as limited networking opportunities, a lack of mentorship, and difficulty accessing international Wikimedia initiatives. By learning about the CEE Youth Group, community members will gain insights into how they can connect with peers across the region, exchange experiences, and access new opportunities for growth. The session will also inspire young Wikimedians to take a more active role in their communities and the wider Wikimedia Movement. Participants will also have the opportunity to discuss challenges young Wikimedians face and explore how the CEE Youth Group can support them.
