In this short presentation, I will explain how the geoshape datatype and values from Wikidata can be combined to create effective data visualisations about a language, such as a map showing the geographic distribution of speakers. An example of a SPARQL query that will result in choropleth map visualisation will be given and other possible uses of geoshapes suggested.

Attendees will gain awareness of how geoshapes can be used to visualise data and create dynamic maps for use in Wikipedia and other projects. A SPARQL query will be provided and it could be adapted for different languages.
