We had overwhelming response with 50+ participants. We invited veteran Tamil writer Karnan to inaugurate the workshop. He shared his experience in literature and emphasized the importance of documenting the knowledge. Management Studies HOD Dr.V.Joseph Paul Raj, ECE HOD Mr. V. Arun, Kalam Founder Mr. G. Varadarajan shared their thoughts and motivated the students. Neechalkaran gave the session on Creative commons and Wikipedia projects. G. Sridhar and Mahalingam facilitated the session on what to write and how to write Tamil wikipedia in detail. After a Lunch Break, we had a hands-on session for all the 50+ students and trained them with basic Tamil typing, created their userpage, created a sandbox articles. As we pre planned, all the participant students had registered in Wikipedia already, so we able to start the hands-on with out any login hassles. Few brilliant students started to edit articles from main namespace, and uploaded their own image of the university. Finally, Neechalkaran conducted the session about Wikipedia API and technical aspects of the wiki projects. unfortunately, day scholar students left for the day before completion of the session, which was already overdue. However entire session was useful to the student and we request them to continue their activities. Few regional Media reported the workshop[1]
