CIS-A2K is launching the second iteration of the She Leads campaign, aimed at encouraging more women to actively engage and take leadership roles within the Wikimedia movement. Just like last year, this year also, the initiative continues to support women Wikimedians from India, providing them with guidance on developing ideas, drafting proposals, and accessing necessary resources. To ensure effective participation and impact, A2K will introduce specific criteria that participants must adhere to.
Background
[edit]In March 2023, CIS-A2K introduced She Leads as a program and campaign to empower women in the Wikimedia community to take initiative and lead their own projects. The campaign ran for two and a half months (March 1 – May 15, 2023), during which 19 women from India proposed 15 unique ideas, resulting in the successful execution of 13 projects.
As a follow-up to this initiative, an in-person event was organized on February 1-2, 2025, bringing together participants to reflect on their experiences, share learnings, and discuss ways to sustain and expand their contributions to Wikimedia.
With the second iteration of She Leads, CIS-A2K aims to build on last year’s success, fostering a stronger, more inclusive space for women in Wikimedia.
