CIS-A2K/Events/Relicensing & digitisation partnerships in Goa

CIS-A2K is expanding its relicensing and digitisation program in various states of India. In the last year, the efforts in Goa state were initiated. To continue this, we conducted several meetings with authors, publishers and language institutions in different parts of Goa on 16 & 17 August 2023.
In the meetings with three authors and copyright holders, the process of relicensing, copyrights, licenses and digitisation was explained with the demonstration of previous cases. We also had meetings with two publishers, who are interested in facilitating the relicensing & digitisation activities in Goa. After these sessions, the son of author Gajanan Raikar released 13 books under free license by completing the process of declaration. The meeting with President of Konkani Bhasha Mandal was held to plan the database of Konkani authors and works, relicensing of their publications and digitisation set-up.
The Marathi department and library of Goa University have taken initiative to train the students in digitisation. We have placed a scanner and laptop in the department. The training session for scanning and processing of books was conducted for selected students. The two students started the digitisation of relicensed books. The plan for developing the database of public domain works was also discussed with the librarian.
