This will be a one-day collaborative event between Assamese Wikimedia Community and CIS-A2K, that is intended as the official closing of the first phase of WikiSanjog-Assamese Wikimedia's Mentorship Program and anniversary celebration for Assamese Wikisource and Assamese Wikiquote. The event includes talks/presentations by the senior members, hands-on activities on Assamese Wikimedia projects and distribution of prizes to the top mentees and the 'Assamese Wikimedian of the year'.
The primary objective of the event is to accelerate the engagement as well as the wiki-activities among the new volunteers of Assamese Wikimedia Community. We have started a mentorship program (WikiSanjog) to mentor and guide the new participants from 1st Oct 2024, helping them navigate the various Assamese Wikimedia platforms. In this program 52 new members have registered and they have been contributing in the Wikimedia projects since then. The total global contribution of the newly active members is 7000+. As we approach the end of the 3-month program on 31st December, we are planning to organise the First Offline Workshop cum meet-up with them. We are confident that, with this offline program, they will further be motivated to learn the multilayered aspects of Wikimedia projects. Along with this, we have some hand-on activities, talks/presentations of Senior and resource persons from CIS-A2K, birthday celebrations of Wikisource and Wikiquote.
Expected start date and end date of the Event/Activity
The day shall be started off with the introduction of the participants followed by the objective of the event. Then we move forward to the ‘WIkimedian of the year’ award and presentations by the senior members and resource person.The mentees will share their experiences and learnings from the WikiSanjog Project. Several Hands-on activities shall be carried out by the mentees under the guidance by the mentors. The event will be concluded with the birthday celebration of Assamese Wikisource and Assamese Wikiquote.
