Wiki Loves Food: Latvian Wikipedia’s Culinary Writing Contest
From January 15 to 31, 2025, the Latvian Wikipedia community held the "Wiki Loves Food" article competition—the first one after a longer break of community activities. The idea of choosing an accessible and engaging topic proved to be a great success, exceeding expectations in participation and contributions.

Competition Highlights
- A total of 65 new articles were created, significantly enriching our culinary content.
- The top contributors were:
- Votre Provocateur (25 articles), covering topics such as mashed potatoes, sushi, Scotch whisky, cheeseburgers, Kyiv cutlet, and dim sum.
- Treisijs (22 articles), focusing on lasagna, hot chocolate, coconut milk, cocktails, and biryani.
- Egilus (7 articles), adding insights into food preparation techniques like marination, blanching, and salting.
Other participants contributed articles on pizzas, soups, pastries, food preservation, and sustainability. The competition demonstrated that food is a universally engaging theme.
The top two participants were awarded gift vouchers, sponsored by Wikimedia Eesti.
