Babaylan PH is a community of Filipino women wikimedians who seek to preserve culture and women empowerment through the wiki movement.
BABAYLAN, in ancient Philippines, are women who are highly regarded with respect and authority in the community due to their wisdom, commanding power and status in the community. Babaylans are considered as priestess or scholars or highly qualified consultants.[1]
Objectives
[edit]Our primary goal is to promote women participation in preservation of our cultural heritage and reduce gender gap across the Wikimedia movement.
- Establish a platform for women to collaborate on projects within the Wikimedia movement.
- Produce a cultural documentation of Philippine heirloom cuisines handed down to women in the country.
- Creating events, meet-ups, and campaigns promoting awareness global issues involving women.

[edit]- Vanj Padilla is an accredited national trainer of the Department of Information and Communication Technology on digital marketing, digital technology and content production. She is a volunteer Wikimedian since 2014. She is honed and trained by Google, Inc. as a volunteer community leader since 2013 and a scholar of Stanford Graduate School of Business. At present she is a law student and an employee of the Supreme Court of the Philippines as a Judicial Officer. She is a Local Coordinator and Trainer of the Reading Wikipedia in the Classroom project in the Philippines.
- Dang Brazal works as a licensed librarian in the Philippines. She has been a Wikipedia volunteer since 2012. Currently, she is also a Local Coordinator and Trainer of the Reading Wikipedia in the Classroom project in the Philippines, for the Wikimedia Foundation. She is also an advocate of free knowledge and sources in the Philippines. As part of a council of librarians, she introduces the Wikipedia, and Wikimedia resources to her fellow colleagues in librarianship. In the Bikol Region, she is part of the core group members who develops the Bikol Central Wikimedia Projects. She is also active in English and Tagalog Wikipedia.
