AfroCuration education edit-a-thon
The AfroCuration education edit-a-thon is an event organised by the Moleskine Foundation with the support of Wikimedia ZA to improve South Africa related articles on Wikipedia. The primary focus of the event is to add, expand, and improve articles about the South African constitution in as many South African language versions of Wikipedia as possible.
Organisation
[edit]The Moleskine Foundation did most of the on-the-ground organising and preparation for the even in addition to providing funding for it. This funding included a small amount (R30,000) for travel expenses so that veteran editors from South Africa could join the event on the day, in person, in Johannesburg.
Wikimedia ZA committed to:
- Finding veteran Wikipedia editors to participate.
- Awarding scholarships to veteran editors so as to participate in person.
- Publicising the event within the Wikimedia community.
- Monitoring the impact of the event.
