Afrikaans Intern 2024-25
This is the proposal by Wikimedia South Africa for an intern to assist in the growth and community development of Afrikaans Wikipedia
Motivation
[edit]The Afrikaans Wikipedia has reached a stage of growth whereby the community feels they are well positioned for strong future growth. Appointing a intern will enable the language Wiki to grow more rapidly and strongly. It is the biggest Wikipedia on the African Continent and growing steadily. With growth comes more maintenance and administrative challenges.
Afrikaans Wikipedia is also bringing new communities to Wikimedia, that benefit all Wikipedias. The latest is in the field of Botany, where we have reached an agreement to release over 60000 photos of plants, into the public domain, and loaded onto Commons, for use on Wikipedia.
It is also a good opportunity for students and new graduates to gain experience and master practical skills, in short grow their CV.
