The African WikiVisionaries Group is a dynamic and dedicated community of African women who are passionate about shaping the future of Wikimedia projects on the continent. We believe in the transformative power of knowledge and recognize the pivotal role that African women can play in advancing our shared vision for a more inclusive and representative digital world.
Goals
[edit]As African WikiVisionaries, we are committed to harnessing the power of knowledge, collaboration, and advocacy to make a lasting impact on Wikimedia projects and to create a more equitable and inclusive representation of African women's voices and experiences. This is aimed to be achieved through the following:
1. Empowering African Women in Wikimedia: To empower African women to become active and influential contributors to Wikimedia projects.
2. Content Enrichment: To enrich Wikimedia projects with diverse, accurate, and comprehensive content related to Africa and African women.
3. Bridging the Gender Gap: To address the gender gap in Wikimedia by increasing the participation and representation of African women.
4. Outreach and Community Building: To expand our reach, engage with diverse audiences, and foster a sense of community among African WikiVisionaries.
5. Celebrating African Women's Contributions: To celebrate and document the achievements and contributions of African women across various fields.
Objectives

- Collaborate with other Wikimedia communities to amplify our impact.
- Advocate for gender-sensitive policies and practices within Wikimedia.
- Raise awareness about the gender gap and its implications for the global knowledge ecosystem.
- Encourage African women to take on leadership roles within Wikimedia projects.
- Create biographical articles and content that highlight the accomplishments of African women.
Activities
