Africa Environment WikiFocus 2023 in Burundi
Africa Environment WikiFocus celebrates Wangari Maathai Day

[edit]Since March 25, 2023, the wikimedia Community user group Burundi has joined the Africa Environment WikiFocus project initiated by Wiki in Africa and Wikimedia Côte d'Ivoire with Wikimedia Foundation,the African Union and Africa No Filter as partners. This initiative was set up to enable Wikimedia and other communities to contribute climate-related content from Africa to Wikimedia Projects in March-April 2023 and beyond.
The main activities of the project are:
- Create and enhance content on Africa's climate.
- Translate existing articles in French, English and local languages on Wikipedia ;
- Speak about the importance of the Africa Environment project at major meetings (conference, debate, training...);
- Initiate students in environmental and climate sciences to contribute to Wikipedia, Wikidata, and Wikimedia commons;
- Collect data on Burundi's climate and environment from national specialized institutions;
- Organize information conferences and contribution workshops.
