Africa Environment WikiFocus Celebrates Wangari Maathai Day

“No matter how dark the cloud, there is always a thin, silver lining, and that is what we must look for. And maybe with that generation the lining will no longer be thin.” ― Wangari Maathai, Unbowed: A Memoir

What is a WikiProject collaboration ?

The meaning of a Wikiproject

The shortly: A WikiProject, or Wikiproject, is an affinity group for contributors with shared goals within the Wikimedia movement. WikiProjects are prevalent within the largest wiki, Wikipedia, and exist to varying degrees within sibling projects such as Wiktionary, Wikiquote, Wikidata, and Wikisource. They also exist in different languages, and translation of articles is a form of their collaboration.

A WikiProject is a group of contributors who want to work together as a team to improve Wikipedia. These groups often focus on a specific topic area (for example, WikiProject Mathematics or WikiProject India), a specific part of the encyclopedia (for example, WikiProject Disambiguation), or a specific kind of task (for example, checking newly created pages). The English Wikipedia currently has over 2,000 WikiProjects, about 1,000 of which are monitored by 30–2,000 editors, all with varying levels of activity.

Wikiproject Council

The WikiProject Council is a group of Wikipedians that encourage and assist with the development of WikiProjects. The council acts as a central point for inter-WikiProject discussion and collaboration. New to WikiProjects?
