Affiliations Committee/Reports/2023
January 2023
[edit]As of January 15th, 38 Wikimedia Chapters (100%), 2 Thematic Organizations (100%), and 105 active User Groups (76%) were compliant with required reporting. This represents an increase in compliance trend for Chapters (84% last quarter), a slight decline for User Groups (79% last quarter), and stability for Thematic Organizations. Dumisani continues working on updating the affiliate reporting cycles. For the details on compliance status, check the Affiliate Status Report page.
Affiliate Spotlight
[edit]In an attempt to acknowledge the affiliate work, the Affiliate Spotlight section was introduced as a part of Wikimedian of the Year. We have two winners this year- Art+Feminism for Partnerships and Wikimedia UK for governance. The DEI team and governance team continue working closely with Wikimedia UK for resources and training on ideal governance practices.
Applications for Recognition
[edit]Last quarter, the Affiliations Committee received 13 new User Group applications and recognized one new user group. AffCom is currently reviewing a customized policy on Conflict of Interest for better management of expectations.

Affiliate Conflict Intervention
[edit]AffCom is managing three active conflicts, with no new reports this quarter. AffCom is also reviewing a case of tax-exemption lapse. Considering the rising issues related to Consensus Building, Bylaws structure, and governance practices, AffCom released Bylaws guidelines last quarter.
