Affiliate Spotlight
[edit]In an attempt to acknowledge the affiliate work, the Affiliate Spotlight section has been introduced as a part of Wikimedian of the Year. We have two winners this year- Art+Feminism for Partnerships and Wikimedia UK for governance. The DE&I team and governance team are working closely with Wikimedia UK for resources and training on ideal governance practices.
Applications for Recognition
[edit]Last quarter, the Affiliations Committee received five new User Group applications and recognized four new user groups. AffCom is currently reviewing a customized policy on Conflict of Interest for better management of expectations.
Affiliate Conflict Intervention
[edit]AffCom is managing three active conflicts, with two new reports this quarter. AffCom is also reviewing a case of tax-exemption lapse. The purpose of this table is to summarize new cases and provide updates where relevant in serious cases. Considering the rising issues related to Consensus Building, Bylaws structure, and governance practices, AffCom released Bylaw guidelines for affiliates last quarter.
July 2022
[edit]As of July 11th, 27 Wikimedia Chapters (71%), 02 Thematic Organizations (100%), and 107 active User Groups (78%) were compliant with required reporting. This represents a decrease for Chapters (100% last quarter), an increase for User Groups (76% last quarter), and stability for Thematic Organizations. We observed a dramatic shift in compliance last quarter as an outcome of lifting the restriction on travel and in-person gatherings and compliance as criteria for grants eligibility. Level 1 to Level 4 reminders from the Wikimedia Affiliate Data Portal have been automated and Dumisani continues working to update the affiliate reporting cycles.
